Economic Development

The role of the Economic Development Team is to help convert the Council's overall vision, aims and values into practical action. A key aim set out in the Council Plan is to encourage enterprise in the local economy. The Council's Economic Development Strategy draws together in a single document the range of activity that is relevant to this aim. The Council will seek to encourage economic growth and diversification throughout the district by:

Providing support for new and existing businesses
Encouraging rural economic and community development
Promotion of specific business sectors including tourism
Seeking improvements in transport and communications.
Monitoring the development of the local economy
