The Council participates in any food sampling priorities that may be identified by LACORS, the Food Standards Agency or the Oxfordshire Food Liaison Group. Sampling will also occur following poor results from such sampling.
In addition targeted sampling occurs in respect of local small scale food manufacturers of high-risk items, where sampling is required for compliance with product approval legislation e.g. dairy products establishments.
Samples are also taken as necessary, on an ad-hoc basis, following complaints, programmed inspections or suspected food poisoning incidents.
Officers carrying out food sampling will ensure that where necessary they co-ordinate activities with colleagues in other Local Authorities and Trading Standards.
The Food Sampling Programme for 2007-08 is outlined below. A copy of the Council's Policy can be viewed or downloaded from the link on the right.
