Markets in West OxfordshireWest Oxfordshire District Council holds the Royal Charter rights to run street markets in Chipping Norton on Wednesdays and in Witney on Thursdays and Saturdays. Carterton Town Council holds a street market every Thursday. These 'traditional' general markets allow residents to purchase a variety of items including: bread & pastries, sweets, pet supplies, flowers, clothes, meat, cakes, kitchenware, prints & frames and greeting cards. Rent per pitch in Chipping Norton is £18.70 for permanent traders and £26 for casual traders. In Witney it is £20.70 for casual traders and £28 for permanent traders. To enquire about stalls in Carterton contact Kevin Hurdman on 07966 146781/ Farmers' Markets Thames Valley Farmers' Market Co-operative runs farmers' markets, bringing local food to local people. At these markets there are a variety of stalls selling items such as pork, lamb and beef, speciality sausages, a big selection of fruit and vegetables, fruit juice, eggs, cheese, preserves, dressings and sauces, speciality bread, jam and honey. All farmers' markets in West Oxfordshire run from 8.30am to 1.30pm. In Charlbury they are quarterly, the second Saturday in the month (Mar, June, Sep, Dec); Chipping Norton is the third Saturday of every month; Witney is the fourth Friday of every month and Woodstock the first Saturday of every month Please note on 23 September 2011 Witney Farmers' Market moved from the Market Square in Witney to Marriotts Walk.
