General information:
Marriotts Close is an important site in the middle of Witney. It is owned by the Council and thus by the whole community in West Oxfordshire.
It measures 3.1 hectares or 7.7 acres.
The aim of the development at the former Marriotts Close football ground and Welch Way car park is to:
- Enhance the commercial vitality and viability of Witney town centre.
- Widen the range of services and facilities available locally. At present, around 80% of West Oxfordshire residents travel outside the District to do their shopping.
- Preserve and enhance the special environmental and historical character of Witney as a market town.
