Food Sampling ProgrammeThe Council participates in the food sampling priorities identified by LGR, the Food Standards Agency and the Oxfordshire Food Liaison Group. Sampling may also be carried out as a routine enforcement intervention and to deal with specific local issues. Targeted sampling may be carried out at local small-scale food manufacturers of high-risk products where it is required for compliance with product approval legislation e.g. dairy products establishments. Samples may also be taken on an ad-hoc basis following complaints, programmed inspections or suspected food poisoning incidents. Officers carrying out food sampling ensure that, where appropriate, they co-ordinate activities with colleagues in other local authorities and Trading Standards.
