Food Sampling Programme

The Council participates in the food sampling priorities identified by LGR, the Food Standards Agency and the Oxfordshire Food Liaison Group. Sampling may also be carried out as a routine enforcement intervention and to deal with specific local issues.

Targeted sampling may be carried out at local small-scale food manufacturers of high-risk products where it is required for compliance with product approval legislation e.g. dairy products establishments.

Samples may also be taken on an ad-hoc basis following complaints, programmed inspections or suspected food poisoning incidents.

Officers carrying out food sampling ensure that, where appropriate, they co-ordinate activities with colleagues in other local authorities and Trading Standards.
