How to pay

Direct Debit

This is the easiest method of payment both for you as the customer and for the Council. It saves you the worry of remembering to pay each month, of writing a cheque, posting it or paying at the Council's Cashiers office. Payment by Direct Debit is covered by a guarantee for your peace of mind.

The Direct Debit Guarantee

This Guarantee is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society.

  • If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change, the Council will notify you normally 10 working days in advance of your account being debited, or otherwise as agreed.
  • If an error is made by West Oxfordshire District Council or your Bank or Building Society, you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.
  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to the Council.

All you have to do is print off the Direct Debit form, which is available from the 'Downloads' section of this page as a word document, complete it, and return it to us at the following address:

The Local Taxation Service
PO Box 303
Witney
OX28 1WR

(Sorry, at the moment we cannot accept forms via e-mail or fax.)

Please make sure you quote your Non-Domestic Rate bill number, on the Direct Debit instruction form. The bill number can be found on your Non-Domestic Rate Bill. Alternatively please write your address (or the address of the property for which you are paying council tax) on the back of the form.
