Commercial Waste comes from premises used wholly or mainly for:
Commercial waste is not accepted as part of our household waste collection service and neither will it be accepted at the household waste recycling centres. With this in mind, West Oxfordshire District Council currently operates a commercial refuse service in partnership with our contractors Cleanaway. This helps to ensure that the collection and disposal of your waste is carried out appropriately. (Please note that the Council also operates a Commercial Recycling service - for further information please see the Commercial Recycling page)
Collections are normally made on a weekly basis. However, in most cases we are able to accommodate more or less frequent collections if requested.
What Containers do we provide?
The waste must be packaged in suitable containers so that it cannot fallout, blow away or escape from the receptacle. Only waste contained within your wheeled bin will be collected.
The bin sizes and weekly charges from the 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009 are as follows.
| Bin size | Equivalent to | Cost per collection (ex VAT) |
| 240 Litre | 2/3 Bags | £4.09 |
| 360 Litre | 4/5 Bags | £6.00 |
| 660 Litre | 8/9 Bags | £7.49 |
| 1100 Litre | 13/14 Bags | £10.38 |
These charges include administration, bin rental fees, collection, disposal, duty of care and landfill tax. They will be invoiced twice yearly unless you wish to set up a standing order.
Also available are pre-paid waste sacks and stickers at £1.53 (ex. VAT) each from a number of outlets throughout the district.

Why we charge for this service
Under the 'Control of Pollution Act 1974', the collection and disposal of Commercial Waste generated by premises is not included in the Council Tax or the Unified Business Rate and is therefore a chargeable service. Indeed, the Environmental Protection Act 1990 requires that commercial premises take reasonable steps to keep waste safe and only pass it on to persons that are authorised to properly transport and dispose of waste.
