Village Shop Support

Village shops remain a lifeline to many people living in rural West Oxfordshire with many of them providing extra services to the community.

West Oxfordshire District Council supports and contributes funding towards a village shop advisor based at the Oxfordshire Rural Community Council (ORCC).  Their role is to offer advice and support to rural shopkeepers on a full range of issues including business development, shop improvements, security, staffing, training and funding.  ORCC are also able to advise villages and communities that have lost their shop on other alternatives such as a community run shop and utilising alternative premise such as the village hall.

For more information please visit ORCC's website, email Jane Barker at ORCC or call her on 01608 659010.
