Review of Parliamentary ConstituenciesThe Boundary Commission for England has completed a review of the boundaries of Parliamentary Constituencies in England. The review was conducted on a county by county basis and the Commission actually made its final recommendations in relation to the Parliamentary Constituencies in Oxfordshire in 2004. Oxfordshire will continue to have a total of six constituencies, but there will be revisions to each of the Banbury County; Henley County; Wantage County; Witney County; Oxford East Borough; and Oxford West & Abingdon County Constituencies. As far as the Witney Constituency is concerned, the boundaries of the constituency will become the same as the boundaries of the District of West Oxfordshire (currently it consists of West Oxfordshire plus a small part of the District of Cherwell). For more information see the various documents available as file downloads from the right of this page. Alternatively, these and other documents and factual and procedural information may be viewed on the Commission's website. The outline map referred to in the News Release relating to Oxfordshire is not available on this website but may be viewed on the Commission's site, although users should be aware of the copyright restrictions referred to on that website. The boundary changes will be implemented at the next general election, which has to take place by no later than May 2010. |
