Allowances for District Councillors

In accordance with Government Regulations, we set the allowances which Councillors may claim for doing their duties, taking into account the recommendations of an Independent Panel.

Independent Panel Reports, the Allowances Scheme, and Allowances Payments

The following are available to download, with the individual documents listed at the right of this page:

  • Independent Panel reports for the last few years, and including the Panel's recommendations for 2012/2013
  • details of the Council's actual schemes of allowances for 2008/2009 to 2012/2013 inclusive
  • details of allowances payments made to Councillors in the financial years 2008/2009 to 2011/2012 inclusive

The Independent Panel's recommendations for the financial year 2012/2013 (see November 2011 report) were considered by the Council at its meeting on 18 January 2012, and the Council decided to make no changes to the allowances scheme for the financial year 2012/13.
