The Cabinet Forward Plan

The Forward Plan is required by law to set out the "key" Executive (Cabinet) decisions which will be taken at West Oxfordshire District Council over a four month period. These are the key decisions of which the Council's Executive is currently aware. The Plan is updated and rolled forward on a monthly basis. As this happens, the programme will be adjusted: further key decisions may be added, or anticipated ones may be rescheduled or removed. The Forward Plans for August to November and September to December 2008 are available as file downloads from this page, and are also available from the Council Offices at Woodgreen, Witney. A likely date of decision is shown, but it is possible that a decision may be rescheduled, and the latest position on prospective decisions can be obtained by contacting Committee Services - Tel: 01993 861523; email: enquiries@westoxon.gov.uk

Some decisions are taken by individual members of the Cabinet rather than by the Cabinet as a whole, and these are shown in the Plan. Further information as to the membership of the Cabinet and the portfolios of Cabinet members may be obtained from the file download at Cabinet Membership & Responsibilities 2008/2009.

Although only key decisions are required to be included in the Forward Plan, other expected business is also included, where known, in the interests of openness surrounding the Cabinet's business and decision making.

Key decisions are defined as those which are financially significant (in terms of spending or savings) for the service or function concerned or which will have a significant impact on two or more wards in the District. The Council has decided that something is financially significant for these purposes if it is a decision which either commits the Council to more than £50,000 in expenditure or would result in savings greater than £50,000; and that a decision shall be regarded as significant in terms of its effects on two or more wards if any of the Head of Paid Service, the Strategic Director (Resources) or the Monitoring Officer, consider that the decision will fall within the statutory definition.

Comments on the matters for decision may be made as shown in the Plan, usually up to the date of the meeting concerned. For further information, contact Committee Services - Tel: 01993 861523; email: enquiries@westoxon.gov.uk
