Access to information

Please follow the links below for more information:

Freedom of Information: The Freedom of Information Act gives the public 'a general right of access' to information held by all public authorities (including district councils, county councils, central government and organisations such as the BBC), subject to certain exemptions.

The Environmental Information Regulations: In addition to the Freedom of Information Act, the Environmental Information Regulations make similar provisions for the release of environmental information.

Data Protection: The Data Protection Act controls how your personal information is used by corporations and public bodies. It requires everyone who collects data to follow strict rules, and to keep your information safe.

Transparency of Information: The Council believes it is important that residents can clearly see how their taxes are being spent, and this page contains more information.

The National Fraud Initiative: This is a data matching exercise to assist in the prevention and detection of fraud.
