Noise and other nuisances

Problems which could affect your health or be a nuisance can arise from premises caused by:

  • Smoke
  • Fumes/gases
  • Dust, steam, or smells from business premises
  • Accumulations or deposits
  • Animals
  • Noise (including noise from car alarms and machines in the street)
  • Light from artificial lighting installations such as floodlights, security lighting etc
  • Insects from business premises (e.g. poultry units)

Aircraft Noise

Local authorities are not legally empowered to deal with complaints of aircraft noise.  Based in the district is RAF Brize Norton, the largest station in the Royal Air Force, employing some 3900 service personnel and over 600 civilians.  It is a busy station constantly in the public eye, as the main airport used for deploying UK troops worldwide.  For further details contact RAF Brize Norton.
