Parking P

West Oxfordshire District Council provides free parking in all of its 16 car parks. 

Car parking restrictions are necessary to keep traffic flowing and enable people to park conveniently. Wardens monitor the use of car parks to ensure that, amongst other offences, motorists comply with the following:

  • time limits are not exceeded
  • parking places are used correctly (i.e. vehicles are parked within marked bays)
  • disabled parking and parent and toddler bays are not misused. 
  • unauthorised trading
  • failure to display a valid parking permit
  • parking on double yellow lines
  • vehicles do not exceed the 3500kg weight limit

Burford

  • Guildenford, Burford - long stay

Carterton 

  • Alvescot Road, Carterton - long stay
  • Black Bourton Road, Carterton - long stay

Charlbury

  • Spendlove Centre - Short and Long stay

Chipping Norton

  • Albion Street, Chipping Norton - long stay
  • Cattle Market, Chipping Norton - short stay
  • New Street, Chipping Norton - long stay

Eynsham

  • Back Lane - Long Stay

Long Hanborough

  • Riely Close, Long Hanborough - long stay

The Tews

  • Great Tew - long stay

Witney

  • Burwell Drive, Witney - long stay
  • Marriotts Walk Multi-Storey - short stay
  • Windrush Leisure Centre, Witney - Short stay
  • Woodford Way - long stay
  • Woolgate Centre - short and long stay (Shopmobility Scheme)
  • There is further long stay parking within walking distance to town - 50 spaces at the Artificial Turf Pitch off Gordon Way in Station Lane and a further 50 spaces at the Manor Farm Museum in Cogges.

Bicycle Parking in Witney

  • 12 spaces - Marriotts Walk.
  • 20 spaces - Market Square (at side of town hall).
  • 40 spaces - Market Square (behind Oxfam).
  • 07 spaces - High Street at Post Office.
  • 36 spaces - Woolgate Centre adjacent to clock tower.
  • 06 spaces - Sheltered bus stop at top of Curbridge Road heading into town.
  • 12 spaces - Sheltered bus stop at Welch Way by Marriotts Walk entrance.
  • 08 spaces - Sheltered bus stop at Newlands Road heading out of town. 

Woodstock 

  • Hensington Road, Woodstock - long stay

Mother and child parking
There is designated mother and child parking in the following facilities:

  • Burford
  • Charlbury
  • New Street, Chipping Norton
  • Woolgate Centre, Witney

Disabled Parking
There are designated disabled parking bays in all primary Council car parks. This is free with no time limit for valid disabled badge holders.  Due to further development at the Woolgate Centre the disabled spaces have been moved to a central location.

There is a Shopmobility Scheme that operates within the Woolgate Centre Car Park, at Langdale Gate, more information is available on the Shopmobility page

Motorcycle Parking
There is designated motorcycle parking in the Woolgate Centre, Witney and New Street, Chipping Norton car parks.

Car Park Categories
Short Stay - time limit: 1 hour, 3 hours and 5 hours
Long Stay - time limit:  9 hours and 12 hours
