Grants to keep homes warm this winter
Now that winter is here, if you're struggling to keep your home warm, we want to help.
Funding from the Department of Health is helping to fund a number of 'Warm Homes, Healthy People' project elements across Oxfordshire. More information can be found from the United Sustainable Energy Agency, or by calling 0800 1070044.
You may be eligible for a voucher to help you cover heating bills, additional benefits, a grant for insulation, draught-proofing or upgrade to your heating system or controls, or free membership to an oil bulk-buying scheme! Please call 0800 107 0044 for more information.
Additionally, we are offering a grant for residents who struggle to keep their homes warm through the winter.
The grant is specifically for households that are claiming benefits, who are over 60 or those with a disability, that are finding it financially difficult to carry out essential repairs to keep their homes warm.
Grants of £500 are available to help pay for work, including:
- Draft proofing doors and windows
- Secondary glazing
- Replacing loft hatches with insulated hatches
- Clearing lofts to allow them to be insulated
- Installing improved heater controls, such as thermostatic radiator valves
The work is carried out by our Home Improvement Agency Small Repair Service, who can also help you with a range of property repairs.
We also offer Flexible Home Improvement Loans for essential home repairs.
Terms and conditions apply, so to find out if you are eligible, contact the Home Improvement Agency on 01993 861000, or see: www.westoxon.gov.uk/HIA
