This team ensures that private sector housing is in good repair and meets minimum standards. This is achieved through education, advice, promotion and enforcement in the following areas:
The Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) is the Government's new approach to the evaluation of the potential risks to health and safety from any deficiencies identified in dwellings. A guide to HHSRS, which is targeted at landlords, agents and property related professionals, can be downloaded from the link on the right of this page.
The Department for Communities and Local Government has funded the National Landlords Association (NLA) to provide an information service for landlords, to help them understand HHSRS and other requirements under current housing legislation. If landlords require detailed assistance on specific issues, they can opt to join NLA by becoming members.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us either by using the online service on the right of this page or by telephoning 01993 861060.
