Pass on your unwanted furniture to those who need it. There a two good local schemes who deal with unwanted funiture, they are:
www.2recycle.co.uk
Give away your unwanted goods to people who would find them very useful rather than add to fast diminishing and costly landfill sites. There are no membership requirements or clubs to join so placing an ad, or a request, takes only a few minutes and is completely free of charge.
The Emmaus Furniture Store is a local charity that collects good, unwanted electrical goods and furniture for re-distribution to people on benefits and low incomes. They will take all household furniture in a clean, tidy and reusable condition. Soft furnishings will need to comply with Fire and Furnishing Regulations 1998 and should carry a label stating so. They will also collect electrical appliances that are in good working order. All goods will be checked for damage and suitability and maybe rejected if in an unacceptable condition.
This project is open five days a week, from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Please email furniture@emmausoxford.org or call 01865 763698 to arrange dropping off your items at the project. Furniture can be collected by the project, but it is worth noting that this is an extremely popular service and the organisation's transport gets booked up quickly.
