What can and cannot be recycled
Please take a look at what can and cannot be recycled.
In order to ensure that everything that can be recycled, is recycled, it is hugely beneficial if the points below are followed:
-
Where carrier bags are used to store and separate recycling materials, please ensure there is only one type of material per bag and leave carrier bags untied as the crews need to be able to see that what is inside each bag is recyclable and safe to handle. Glass should always be kept inside the recycling box and not left in plastic bags.
-
During the week immediately following a bank holiday, please place excess recycling into carriers bags and once again, please leave carrier bags untied and make sure that there is only one material per bag.
-
Cardboard must be broken down to the same size as the recycling box. The crews cannot take large items of cardboard as they are unable to fit into the openings at the side of the collection lorry.
-
Please keep batteries separate from other recyclables within your recycling box.
-
Please wash out any food containers before putting them into your recycling box.
- Wherever possible, please squash down plastic bottles and containers.
