Disposing of electrical and electronic equipment

Disposing of electrical and electronic equipment

You can now dispose of your unwanted electrical equipment in a more environmentally friendly way thanks to a new Government directive called WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment regulations).

It will reduce the amount of electrical and electronic goods going to landfill.  Anything from old toasters and stereos through to washing machines can be taken to your nearest designated WEEE site. Here they will be reclaimed for refurbishment or recycling.

The service is FREE for the consumer, however the producer of the equipment will be responsible for financing the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment.

To fnd out what is classed as WEEE and to find out more please go to Oxfordshire County Council's WEEE web page. This also includes WEEE information for businesses.

Where can I take my WEEE goods in West Oxfordshire?

Dean Pit and Dix Pit are both now able to take WEEE goods. Look out for the pink signs which denote where you can drop off your WEEE items.

What if I cannot get my WEEE item to a Waste and Recycling Centre?

You can use our bulky household waste collection service for which a charge will be made. To use this service, complete an online bulky household request form or please phone our Town Centre Shop on 01993 861020.

Items for collection will need to be placed at the front of your property by 6.00 am on your day of collection. Alternatively, if the item is small then you may include it in your residual waste.
