Frequently asked questionsQuestionI am a Landlord, how do I give my tenant Notice? Answer This will depend on the type of tenancy that your tenant has. There are 2 types of tenancy, an Assured Shorthold Tenancy and an Assured Tenancy, which have different rules regarding the period of Notice required and what form the Notice should be in. As a general guide, an Assured Tenancy requires a months Notice to be given on a prescribed form giving the grounds on which you will be relying on for Possession. An Assured Shorthold Tenancy requires two months Notice to be given, but it will depend on whether the tenancy commenced before or after the 28 February 1997, as to whether the Notice has to be on a prescribed form or not.
