Frequently asked questions

Question
How do I apply for a Mutual Exchange?

Answer
A Mutual Exchange is when two or more tenants agree to exchange dwellings. If you wish to seek an exchange in this way, it will be necessary to complete an application for the MUTUAL EXCHANGE REGISTER. You can obtain an application form from,

- Housing Services, Elmfield, New Yatt Road, Witney, Oxfordshire OX28 1PB or
- The Town Centre Shop, 3 Welch Way, Witney, Oxfordshire OX28 6JH
- Telephone 01993 861010 or
- email housing@westoxon.gov.uk

You can also advertise in the local press or in shop windows.

Should you then find a tenant willing to exchange with you, both of you will need to write to your landlord (and the landlord of the other tenant if different), seeking permission to exchange.

Only if that permission is given can you proceed.
