Frequently asked questions

Question
Do I need planning permission for a shed, extension, etc?

Answer
The rules governing what is, or is not, classed as permitted development are fairly complex and it is not possible to give an answer 'off the cuff'. You should put your proposals in a letter accompanied by a drawing showing the location and dimensions of the shed, etc, and your property. We will send you a written reply and if your shed or structure requires planning permission then we will enclose an application form. Your drawing does not need to be from an architect - hand drawn will do - but please ensure that all dimensions are in metric values. If you do not need planning permission, then you will have documentary evidence to satisfy any future purchaser of your property.
