We believe our employees are our most valuable assets and thus offer staff a range of training and development opportunities. Some training is provided 'in-house' in fully equipped Training and IT Training Rooms. Training and Development opportunities include:

Induction
All new members of staff are welcomed with a carefully planned induction programme. Basic job training and familiarisation are also planned for the first few weeks of employment and form an essential part of the induction process.

Leadership Development Programme
We run a Leadership development programme for managers at all levels.   The course is modular, each session covering a different aspect of the role of a supervisor/manager.

Qualification Training
Where an external qualification is considered relevant to a particular job function the Council may agree to support staff in their studies. Such support normally includes funding for 100% of course fees and textbooks, along with time off to attend college and sit exams. As a condition of this support, staff are expected to repay a proportion of the fees if they leave the Council within a two-year period of completing the whole course or a defined part of the course.
