News Centre15 Oct 2012 (archived) Planning approval for healthcare companyThe Council's Lowlands planning committee has approved a planning application for a significant new building project in Witney. The approval will allow local healthcare company Owen Mumford to expand its operations in the district. Owen Mumford manufactures specialist medical devices, 80% of which are exported around the world. Owen Mumford is already extending its production facility in Chipping Norton but has reached capacity at its site in Woodstock. The permission to develop new premises on a 13 acre site in DeHavilland Way in Witney will allow Owen Mumford to grow its business further. Cllr Richard Langridge, Cabinet Member for the Local Economy and Communities said "Owen Mumford is a local company that has grown to be a genuine global business. We are delighted that it is continuing its expansion in West Oxfordshire and adding to the cluster of technology and healthcare companies in West Witney. It is also good news that the applicants will be making contributions towards the construction of the proposed new Downs Road junction which will open up access directly onto the A40." Jarl Severn, Managing Director of Owen Mumford said: "We have not established the final details of the DeHavilland Way operation but we know that in the near future we shall need to expand our company's premises. As one of the region's biggest employers, we are committed to supporting our local community and proud of our company's roots here in Oxfordshire."
