News Centre08 Jul 2008 (archived) West's success in county sporting eventYoung people from West Oxfordshire are celebrating their success in the annual Oxfordshire Youth Games. Teams representing the District took first prize in 3 out of 7 tournaments. These included top prize in Badminton, Boys' Hockey and joint first, with Vale of White Horse, in High 5 Netball. The Girls' Hockey team also took second prize. More than 130 7 to 14-year-olds from the District took part in the annual Games, which took place at Radley College, Abingdon, on Sunday, July 6. They were selected to represent West Oxfordshire through a series of district and county finals, and competed against teams representing each area of the county in athletics, badminton, cricket, football, High-5 netball, hockey and tag rugby.
