Flood Protection Fair - 9 October 2008

Residents whose homes and businesses have been flooded can find out what is being done and what future action they can take to protect their property at a Flood Protection Fair on 9 October from 2.30 - 6.30pm at the Windrush Leisure Centre, Witney.

The trade fair of flood defence products, ideas, advice and solutions is free to attend and you will be able to:

Check if your home or business is in a flood risk area.
Find out about flood warning services and how you can sign up.
Get advice on practical steps to protect your home from flooding.
Check out the range of flood defence devices you can buy.
Develop your own home or business flood plan.

The fair is being held as part of the Thames Valley Flood Awareness Week (6-12 October) and supported by West Oxfordshire District Council, the Environment Agency, the National Flood Forum, Thames Valley Police, and local Fire and Rescue Services.

West Oxfordshire District Council has produced individual Parish flood reports for each parish. This will help them identify the causes of flooding, who is responsible, what work is being carried out, what the potential options are for future mitigation and who might fund such schemes.
