News Centre18 Aug 2010 (archived) Is your dog microchipped? We have introduced a microchipping service to help you make sure your four-legged friends can be easily identified and quickly returned to you if he or she goes walkies alone. Every year, the council picks up hundreds of stray dogs, some of whom are never reunited with their owners and have to be re-homed. Microchipping only takes a few minutes and will last forever. It involves the insertion of a small microchip under your dog's skin. Your details and your pet's are added to a national database and, should your dog go astray, he or she can be easily scanned, identified, and reunited with you. At a one-off cost of just £14.87, our microchipping is extremely price competitive.
