Environment Fun Day - Thursday 29 July, Witney

Find out about how you can save money while helping the environment at a fun day being held at the Corn Exchange, Witney, on Thursday 29^th July.

The event, organised by West Oxfordshire District Council, takes place from 10am to 4pm.

A range of information will be available, including details of home insulation deals that could save you money, composting and how to generate your own energy. There is also the opportunity to test fuel efficient driving skills and top the Top Gear-style leader board on a driving simulator.

In addition to environmental stalls, there will be games and activities showing how you can be more energy efficient, an energy bus to climb aboard and learn about environmental issues, and plenty of opportunity to pick up some 'green' freebies.

There will also be information about the new recycling and waste service being introduced in West Oxfordshire in November to give people more opportunities to recycle.

Cllr David Harvey, West Oxfordshire District Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "It is important for residents to be aware about the environment and the impact we have on it, and the aim of this day is to get across a serious message in a fun way. Also important in these difficult economic times is the money that we can save by being more energy and fuel efficient. I hope families and residents will come along, take a look and enjoy the day."
