Online help with finding a sports club

If you have been inspired by the Olympics and Paralympics, why not visit the Council's online directory of sports clubs.

The directory provides information and contact details for a range of sports clubs based in the district from water polo and gymnastics to tennis and equestrian.

Witney and District Swimming Club has already seen a surge of new members wanting to join following the summer of sport.

Linda King, Chair of Witney & District Swimming Club said, "Since the Olympics we've been delighted by the upsurge in interest from parents asking about membership for their children. We have had enquiries from more than 25 families and been exceptionally busy arranging assessments for the limited number of spaces we now have left in our training squads.

"It's good to see that the promised Olympic Legacy appears to be happening, especially in West Oxfordshire!"

Cllr Richard Langridge, Cabinet Member for Communities said: "We want to encourage participation in sports and keep the momentum from the Olympics and Paralympics going. I'd urge people to take advantage of the great surroundings and facilities we have in the district and visit the online sports directory to find out more about local sports clubs."
