West Oxfordshire District Council requires developers to provide outdoor playing space as part of all new residential developments above certain size thresholds. The type and size of play areas are based on the Fields in Trust (formerly the National Playing Field Association) guidance 'The Six Acre Standard' meaning that equipped play areas should provide for a range of different types of play for the appropriate age.
Additional services within play development include the play area inspection service, which is delivered via RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents). Leisure and Tourism administers this scheme to all eligible agencies within the District, at a discounted rate. To join this service please contact Leisure and Tourism or call 01993 861558.
