RUSH

RUSH is a project to create more opportunities for young people to engage in positive activities that build their confidence and self esteem. It is aimed at young people who are having difficulties at home, at school or in their local community.

RUSH in Chipping Norton

The current phase of the project is focussing on Chipping Norton. The agencies working together include Chipping Norton Lido, Nexus Community, Chipping Norton Scouts, Chipping Norton School, The Theatre Chipping Norton, St Mary's Church Youth Worker and Spurgeons Young Carers. Projects include:

• Lifeguard training - a short course and mentoring programme leading to summer employment at Chipping Norton Lido for three young people
• Free leisure cards 
• Girls football
• Standby scheme - £2 standby tickets available for 14-25 year olds for live shows and film at The Theatre Chipping Norton
• Twilight Movie marathon at The Theatre Chipping Norton
• Urban Street Games - a sports programme for young people aged 11-14 years

RUSH in Witney

The successful pilot programme was based in Witney and brought together a network of agencies that work with young people. Projects included:

• Girls football
• Free leisure cards
• Rugby for children in transition from primary to secondary school
