Arts

Arts Development is part of Leisure and Tourism at West Oxfordshire District Council. The purpose of the work broadly falls into two parts - supporting existing local arts groups and practitioners and developing new opportunities and providers. Our vision and plans are detailed in the Arts Development Strategy 2007- 2012.

Arts Development offers three grant aid packages:

Support for the Arts - to support local arts groups and projects
Arts Achievement Awards - to support individuals
Arts Higher Achievers Awards - to support individuals

Arts Development has Service Level Agreements with a number of key arts organisations serving West Oxfordshire.

Arts Development projects include:

Full House - our rural touring scheme running from October to March, providing subsidised performances to village halls and community centres in West Oxfordshire.
West Oxon SOUNDZ - a music project to inspire young people aged 16-25
Artspace - a partnership of galleries in West Oxfordshire - producing a regular exhibition listing.
Contemporary Crafts in the Cotswolds - profiling the work of local leading crafts people since 1997. Potters of Port Street has been the most recent project.

Arts Development information and resources include:

Music Diary - a free music listing produced three times a year.
Arts Directory - a directory of local arts groups and artists/practitioners.
Art for Public Places - a leaflet explaining our Public Art policy for the benefit of developers.
Dance Directory - a directory of classes, teachers and dance artists in the area. This publication will be available in late Autumn 2007 following a reprint.
Advice on fund raising and funding opportunities, project creation and project management.
Contacts for arts practitioners, a library of local and national evaluation reports, details of touring performers for promoters, a directory of schools gaining Artsmark.
