Public Art

West Oxfordshire District Council's aim in providing Public Art is to improve the quality of the environment and the quality of new developments to produce an environment which is more stimulating and which will enhance the visual impact of the district and provide heritage of significance for future generations to enjoy.

The District Council's Public Art Policy has been consolidated within the Local Plan (TLC7) covering the period up to 2011. Further details are available in the file download Art for Public Places on the right hand side of this page.

Examples of Public Art in West Oxfordshire

Recent examples of Public Art projects in West Oxfordshire include:

  • 2006 - Feature wall and threshold stones in Charlbury by letter cutter and sculptor Alec Peever.
  • 2003 - Glass and mosaic feature work at Carterton Leisure Centre by Sasha Ward.
  • 2002 - Glass feature work at Chipping Norton Leisure Centre by Peter Berry.
