Changes to the health service

We are working with partners on the proposed changes to the health service. This includes the removal of Primary Care Trusts (NHS Oxfordshire) and Strategic Health Authorities, handing over responsibility for commissioning health services to GP Commissioning Consortia. In Oxfordshire, this will be an overarching county wide consortia with six geographically based sub groups.

Public health will become the responsibility of local authorities, primarily county councils, as will setting up of new Health & Wellbeing Boards. For patient involvement, the current LINKS service will become Healthwatch and take on a larger role.

For further information or to raise any issues, please ring us on 01993 861349. The Cabinet Member with responsibility for health is Cllr Mark Booty.
