Common Waiting List: We maintain the Common Waiting List for the District. When a Housing Association, including Cottsway Housing Association (to whom the Council transferred its housing in March 2001), has vacancies they will normally ask the Council for a referral from the Common Waiting List.
Homelessness: We provide advice and assistance to persons who are threatened with or who are homeless. This could be providing general advice and information on how someone can secure alternative rented accommodation or in some cases providing temporary accommodation or re-housing through the Common Waiting List.
Housing Advice: Advice is available on a wide range of housing related issues such as, landlord/tenant problems, difficulties with rent or mortgage payments, relationship breakdown.
Help with privately rented accommodation: We can provide information on finding privately rented accommodation and we operate Deposit Guarantee and Rent in Advance Schemes.
Help for existing Housing Association tenants wanting to move:
We maintain a Register of tenants in the District who want to exchange or transfer to another dwelling in the District.
Housing Related Support: If help is needed to maintain a tenancy or with tasks involved in managing a household, we can refer applicants to various agencies who will provide advice and support.
Enabling: We have a group of partners called Registered Social Landlords (also called Housing Associations) with whom we work to achieve new housing schemes.
