Following the success of the West Oxfordshire HomeBuy scheme last year, further funding has been secured to provide financial help to local people who would otherwise be unable to get on the property ladder.
The scheme is being run by Sovereign Housing Group with money provided by the District Council. Loans of up to £50,000 are available which will be secured against the value of the property that is purchased. Suitable properties in the District up to the value of £250,000 may be purchased. There is no interest charged for the first three years of the loan and you need only pay back the loan itself when you sell the property, pay your final mortgage instalment or at the end of 25 years. Further details are given in the West Oxfordshire HomeBuy brochure.
To be considered for the scheme you should have a household with an annual income of less than £60,000 and have a local connection with West Oxfordshire. Priority will be given to helping existing housing association tenants and first time buyers.
If you are interested in the scheme you will need to be registered on the Waiting List and also registered with Catalyst Housing who are the HomeBuy agent for this area to complete an application form by visiting www.catalysthomebuy.org.uk or telephone 0845 601 7729.
For further information contact Housing Services, telephone 01993 861010 or Sovereign Living living@sovereign.org.uk or telephone 0845 602 1618.
