Training With Acorn

ACORN is an NVQ/SVQ approved assessment centre, based at West Oxfordshire District Council in Witney, Oxfordshire. It is operated and managed by local authority officers and we specialise in delivering NVQ/SVQ services to our own and other local authority officers.

We also offer professional training to both new and experienced staff in the administration of Housing/Council Tax Benefits and Local Taxation. This includes an understanding of associated legislation.

ACORN is approved by:-

the IRRV to deliver NVQ/SVQs in Benefits and NVQs in Revenues.
Edexcel to deliver the Assessor (A1) and Verifier (V1) awards.
Edexcel to deliver NVQs levels 2, 3 and 4 in Customer Services

We are not aware of any other Centre that is approved to deliver the IRRV NVQs and SVQs, Customer Services NVQs as well as the Assessor/Verifier awards and we believe this places us in a unique position.

How can ACORN help you?

ACORN provides a number of services as shown below. However, we have the experience and expertise to tailor any requirements you have in the Revenues and Benefits field to suit you and your staff.

We can provide the following:-

Legislative training for both benefits and local taxation at beginner and advanced level.
Bespoke training to help candidates with technical areas.
Northgate V6 system training for end users
Assessment of NVQ candidates in their own workplace.
Advice on LAs setting up as a centre including centre application and policies.
Assessor (A1) and Internal Verifier (V1) assessment.

Additionally we are happy to talk to employers about the benefits of having NVQ/ SVQ qualified staff, including the service improvements that can be brought about by the assessment process.

It is important that anyone connected with ACORN is kept up to date with NVQ issues and events. To assist in this ACORN now send out regular newsletters which can be accessed from the downloads area to the right.
