Anti-Social Behaviour

Alcohol seized from underage youths in Witney

Alcohol seized from underage youths in Witney

Anti-social behaviour is often a perception based issue that can occur over time rather than in a single incident. The West Oxfordshire Community Safety Partnership has now adopted the following definition:

Behaviour by an individual or group that:

  • results or is likely to result in another party feeling personally threatened
  • creates a public nuisance
  • has a detrimental impact upon the environment
  • has a detrimental effect upon the quality of life of an individual or the community as a whole.

Report Anti Social Behaviour Online

Anti social behaviour covers many things including:

Graffiti and vandalism
Flytipping
Littering and dog fouling
Threatening and intimidating behaviour
Excessive noise

Different departments within the council deal with these issues. The Community Safety Partnership continues to reduce incidents by early intervention, diversion and effective enforcement. Warning letters and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs) effectively address the problem.

An effective Town Centre Disorder Scheme is in place and involves anyone concerned in alcohol related incidents receiving direct intervention from the ASB team.
