Support for the Arts Grant

This grant provides support to local groups in the development of arts opportunities within West Oxfordshire.

Amounts awarded

Grants awarded are between £100 and £1,500.

Deadline for applications

The deadline for applications is 15th February each year. Application forms must arrive at the Council's Woodgreen offices in Witney by 5pm.

Application process

To assist applicants 1 to 1 meetings are available in January each year. Please contact Leisure and Tourism or call 01993 861554/861562 to arrange an appointment.

Criteria

  • This grant is to support organisations and groups, not individuals.
  • Application is open to organisations involved in the arts.
  • Any applicant organisation/group must have either a signed constitution, club rules or identified aims and objectives which are in line with the Council's policy.
  • Applicants must have a bank/building society account in the name of the organisation.
  • The project must take place in West Oxfordshire or demonstrate considerable benefit to the people of West Oxfordshire.
  • Emphasis is given to applications which: offer opportunities to the wider community; develop the scope of the organisation; have wider artistic significance; are innovatory; can demonstrate value for money.
  • Grants made are valid for up to 12 months from the date of the award.
  • Where West Oxfordshire District Council is the main funder of a project which results in a public exhibition, we expect the exhibition to take place in the district in the first instance.
  • Applicants will need to demonstrate a financial need for grant funding from West Oxfordshire District Council.
  • The applicant organisation must demonstrate that any public presentation of work is to be made accessible to all sectors of the community.

Towards the costs of a series of workshops in performance techniques in Carterton

Artweeks      
Towards running of this countywide open studio project (a week in May in West Oxfordshire)

Bampton Classical Opera        
To stage an outdoor production of an unusual version of a Romeo and Juliet opera

Biserk Dance Company           
To provide a series of workshops and classes in a variety of locations across the district

Burford Festival           
Towards aspects of the 2007 Arts Festival

Burford Orchestra       
To support a series of orchestral concerts over the year

Charlbury Worldsong  
To support the activities of this community choir run by Charlbury Worldsong

Chipping Norton Music Festival           
To support the 96th Chipping Norton Music Festival in March 08

CIAO! (Children's International Arts Org)  
To run an international cultural programme linking Witney and a community in Canada   

Concertante Society    
To support a public concert by the Roseneath School of Music in Ascott under Wychwood      

Cotswold Children's Choir       
To support the annual activities of this popular children's choir   

Dramascope      
To stage Annie at the Corn Exchange Witney in late 2007 with young people.

Eynsham Arts Group   
To pay fees for demonstrations for this art group and to exhibit in Artweeks      

Eynsham Choral Society          
Towards a programme of choral concerts

Filkins Theatre 
To support a series of workshops for young people and a community production

Kingham Choral Society          
To support this choir to engage in some new activities alongside a traditional programme           

Lower Windrush Choral Society          
Towards a programme of concerts over the coming year          

Lunchtime Recitals       
To put on a series of free lunchtime song & music recitals in Witney      

OFVM Centre for Film & Digital Media          
To support film activities in the district to include workshops and an outdoor film screening        

Opera Festa
To produce an opera involving a number of young people and perform in venues across Oxfordshire     

Oxfordshire MIND
To run a series of arts tasters in 3 centres across the district      

Rotary Club of Chipping Norton          
To run workshops during the Jazz day which takes place in the town

Street Stage     
To support the work of this youth theatre and dance company

Witney Music Society
To run a series of winter concerts in Witney

Woodstock Art Group
To support running costs of this weekly art group
