Thames Valley Police

West Oxfordshire is part of the Oxfordshire Basic Command Unit (BCU) and the Local Police Area Commander is Chief Inspector Colin Paine.

Thames Valley Police has seven police stations in West Oxfordshire at:

Witney
Carterton
Chipping Norton
Woodstock
Charlbury **

There are also two police offices at:

Eynsham **
Burford **

Five Neighbourhood Police Teams cover West Oxfordshire and work in partnership with the community and private and public sector organisations.

There are two police sectors in West Oxfordshire.

Witney - The Witney sector is based at the town's police station in Welch Way. The sector takes in many large villages including Standlake, Stanton Harcourt, Long Hanborough, North Leigh, Freeland, Hailey and Ducklington. Carterton is also part of the sector and has a police station on Burford Road. This diverse sector also takes in Minster Lovell, Burford, Bampton, Leafield, the Wychwoods and half a dozen hamlets along the River Thames.
Chipping Norton - Chipping Norton sector boasts the oldest police station in Thames Valley Police. The sector stretches to the Gloucestershire border and the Cotswolds and across to the town of Charlbury and the villages of Hook Norton, Middle Barton and Chadlington. Woodstock is also part of the sector as are the villages of Tackley, Wootton, Stonesfield and Combe.

The non-emergency police number is 101.
