Council Tax Support

The national Council Tax Benefit Scheme was replaced by a local Council Tax Support scheme on 1 April 2013. This Council has adopted the current scheme as its local scheme. This means that, up until 31 March 2014, Council Tax Support will be calculated in the same way as Council Tax Benefit was previously.

Will you qualify?

Whether you qualify for help will depend upon:

• Your income (includes your earnings, other benefits, and tax credits)    
• Your savings (limited to £16,000)
• The income of anyone else who lives with you (such as grown up children or parents)

Second adult rebate

You may be eligible for a second adult rebate if you share your home with someone who:

• Is 18 or over
• Is on a low income
• Does not pay you rent
