Property Reductions

There are a number of property reductions the Council could award to reduce your charge.

You can use our Reduction Finder to see if you could be entitled to a reduction or click on the categories below to learn more about the different available discounts.

The Reductions fall into 3 categories:

Reductions on properties which are unoccupied but substantially unfurnished
Reductions which apply to certain individuals within a property
Reductions on an unoccupied property (that is not necessarily unfurnished)

If you are responsible for a property which is not someone's sole or main residence you could be entitled to a 10% discount. When applying you will be asked to provide evidence that you are paying a full charge for another property.

Some exemptions awarded can be continuous. Others are time dependant and will cease after a given period. All exemptions and discounts are periodically reviewed to ensure the conditions are still met.
