Higher Achievers Award (Sports)
This grant supports people achieving excellence in sport in West Oxfordshire.
Amounts awarded
Grants awarded are between £300 and £1,500.
Deadline for applications
The deadline for applications is 15th October each year.
Criteria
- Applicants must reside within West Oxfordshire. Students should have their home address within West Oxfordshire.
- Applications must be submitted on or prior to the closing date of 15th October. However in exceptional circumstances applications may be assessed and considered prior to the closing date. Please contact the Leisure Development Officer to discuss further.
- Awards are made towards the costs of a specific activity, which can be shown to significantly help the applicant's development in their chosen field. The award may cover; equipment costs, travel expenses, accommodation costs, competition, exhibition or participation costs, specialist coaching or teaching fees, other similar expenditure or a combination of the above. On-going or regular expenditure cannot be used to contribute to these costs.
- Applicants will need to show that they are currently performing/exhibiting at a high level and achieving excellence in their selected sport and therefore any decision will be made in consideration of the following indicators -
1. General - Past awards and/or current ranking. Examinations passed / Accreditations achieved
2. Sports - Recognised full national &/or full international honours. Success with the first stage of national selection. Been identified as having World Class Potential by a National Governing Body of Sport, Sport England or UK Sport.
- Applicants will need to demonstrate that they are pursuing or aiming to pursue sport as their main activity in the longer term.
- The Award is only open to individuals.
- Applicants must be aged 14 years or above. However in exceptional circumstances applications from people below this age limit may be considered (if you think this may apply to you please contact the Leisure Development Officer to discuss this further).
