Help renting a homeSee below for information on Private renting - Deposit Guarantee Scheme. Deposit Guarantee Scheme If you cannot afford a deposit on a private rented home, the Council's rent deposit scheme could help. Instead of giving you the money to pay the deposit, we give your landlord a guarantee. This will cover the landlord for any damage to the property up to a maximum of one months rent. To avoid misunderstanding and disputes, a full inventory is compiled free of charge before the tenancy begins. We may be able to suggest potential tenants to landlords interested in accepting a bond so that vacancies can be filled quickly and without having to pay an agent. A prospective tenant must apply for the bond, and the inventory must be completed, before they move in. Application forms and further details are available by contacting Housing Services or Tel 01993 861010.
