Property ValuesThe Council Tax on your property is worked out using the property's Band. This band is allocated by the Valuation Office Agency(VOA) and is based on what the property's value would have been in 1991. Even if you live in a new property the VOA will work out the band based on what the property value would have been in 1991. Although there has been a lot of speculation about changing the way in which property's are banded, as of yet there are no firm proposals to change the banding system. The table below shows the valuation ranges for each Council Tax Band
Your property's banding will be shown on your Council Tax bill or you can find by entering your postcode in the My West Oxfordshire box on the left hand side of this page. If you disagree with the banding you may be able to appeal to the Valuation Office. Grounds for appeal are limited. Some of the circumstances where an appeal would be possible are :
If you wish to make an appeal you must contact the Valuation Office. You can contact them at: The Valuation Office Agency Or telephone: 01865 441200 Please note: If you do appeal against your property's band you must continue to pay the amount of Council Tax shown on your bill while you are waiting for your appeal to be determined. |
