We are part of the West Oxfordshire Community Safety Partnership and are committed to reducing crime, disorder and fear among our communities, and to make offenders accountable.
Is life in your neighbourhood being blighted by anti-social behaviour?
Are you fed up with graffiti and vandalism?
You can report these incidents to your neighbourhood police team on 101. This is a non-emergency number so if a crime is being committed then please dial 999.
Distraction burglars
Most people who call at your home will be genuine, but sometimes people turn up unannounced with the intention of tricking their way in and stealing money or valuables.
Distraction burglars can be very convincing and often target elderly and disabled residents. You can protect yourself and vulnerable members of your family by following these simple steps:
Remember, if in any doubt, keep them out! Genuine callers will be happy to wait while you check their identification.
Residents are advised not to accept work from callers at your door. You are advised to obtain three quotes from reputable companies if you need work carrying out.
If you receive a visit from someone acting suspiciously you should contact Oxfordshire Trading Standards on 0845 051 0845. If the visitor is still at your property call the police on 999.
Neighbourhood Watch
Neighbourhood Watch is a great way for you and your neighbours to keep an eye on each other. You can set up a scheme with as few or as many people as you like and you'll receive specific crime messages direct from the police.
Neighbourhood Action Groups consist of police officers, police community support officers (PCSOs) and residents, all working with public agencies to improve the local community. Contact your Neighbourhood Team for details on joining your NAG.
Your local crime reduction advisor can also give you free advice and/or send you leaflets offering information on home and personal security.
For further information on this service please contact Community Safety on 01993 861640.
