Sport & Active Recreation Grant
This grant provides financial support to formally constituted sports clubs, playing field management committees and similar voluntary organisations who wish to fund a capital project.
Amounts awarded
Grants will be awarded up to a maximum of 50% of the eligible costs, up to a limit of £5,000.
Deadline for applications
Grants are considered by West Oxfordshire District Council Members on a quarterly basis. Deadline for applications are as follows:
- Monday 5th May 2008
- Monday 18th August 2008
- Monday 3rd November 2008
- Monday 9th February 2009.
Criteria
- Grants will only be accepted from organisations as listed on the application form.
- Only one grant can be allocated per project and only one application is allowed per club/organisation per financial year.
- Only projects of a capital nature will be eligible for grants. Running costs will not be supported.
- Sports recognised by Sport England as being high risk will be required to affiliate to a Governing Body that is recognised by Sport England.
- The project must contribute to the stated aims and objectives of the District Sport & Leisure Development Strategy 2006-2011, copies of which are available on request.
- Evidence of partnership funding will be required. In the event of Sponsorship this will be a letter of intent from the sponsor.
- Applicants will be required to submit copies of supporting documentation as specified on the application form.
- Applications must demonstrate significant community benefit as a result of the project.
- Projects must take place within West Oxfordshire and be of benefit primarily to residents of the District.
- Applications will need to demonstrate a financial need for grant funding from West Oxfordshire District Council.

To develop a second playing area including a five pitch cricket square, levelling of outfield, sight screen and covers.
Lower Windrush Tennis Club - £2,500
To install floodlighting on the third court at the club.
North Leigh Short Mat Bowls Club - £539
To purchase new bowls mats for the club.
Witney Town Bowls Club - £3,686
To replace all front facing windows and doors at the club.

To replace all existing in-floor pipe work to central heating system in the sports pavilion.

Combe Junior Sports Club - £3,448.50
To purchase and install new cricket nets at the club.

Repair works to the club building including installation of improved lighting.

To purchase covers for the cricket wickets at the club.

Purchase three sets of wayfarer sails and five topper dinghies.

To furnish the upstairs club room.
