The Witney Neighbourhood Action Group Area also includes the surrounding villages.

Local residents are regularly consulted on about their top issues, which have been identified as:

  1. Anti-social behaviour. Underage drinking and disorderly conduct on the Leys, and Burwell Estate.
  2. Speeding. Motorists exceed speed limit in residential areas including Corn Street and the High Street.
  3. Littering. Town centre rubbish from the night time economy including Market Place and Church Green.

What's happening in my neighbourhood?

Each month the Neighbourhood Specialist Officer delivers a report on what has been happening in the area.

May 2012
Neighbourhood Supervisor PC Duncan Johnson provides this month's update:

"The neighbourhood team has had a busy month. We have seized alcohol from six youths over a four week period. These incidents are now officially recorded and there is a 'three strikes and you're out' policy. This is aimed at educating young people about the risks of drinking alcohol on the street.

"Acting Sergeant Sam Moore, PCSO Hilary Rabson and Neighbourhood Supervisor Duncan Johnson have continued making use of Twitter. They now have nearly 500 followers so to get regular updates, you can find us at @TVP Witney.

"Anti social behaviour has been in the forefront of the team's patrol plans this month. Issues have arisen in the Ducklington Lane area, near to McDonalds and we would ask for calls to the non-emergency number 101 if you witness any instances. Eight young persons have received banning/warning letters and two of these have now signed upto an Acceptable Behaviour Contract.

"The team has been involved in presentations regarding illegal drugs at Abingdon and Witney College. We have also delivered an internet safety package to various schools. These have taken the form of separate presentations to the schoolchildren and then their parents.

"PCSO Liz Swinney recently scaled great heights to access an insecure property in Witney.

"Details of our Have Your Say surgeries are available at www.thamesvalley.police.uk.

These meetings are an ideal opportunity for local residents to speak to their officers about any issues. No appointment necessary!

"Alternatively you can pop along to meet the team and the many partners we work with on Tuesday 8 May. We will be taking part in the 'Your Community, Your Call' roadshow at Market Square from 9.30am until midday. There will be lots of free advice and information packs to give away."
