Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)As part of the evidence base to support the Local Development Framework (LDF), the Council is required to prepare a Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) taking into account guidance issued by the Government. The purpose of the SHLAA is to identify and assess sites with potential for housing. The work undertaken so far is a technical assessment carried out by the planning policy officers of the Council. The SHLAA documents do not contain Council proposals. All sites will continue to be assessed through the formal LDF process with full public consultation. A Draft Methodology was published for comment in March 2008. The assessment has now progressed to consider land within and on the edge of 24 of the towns and more sustainable villages as identified in the Settlement Sustainability Report - Weighting Analysis (July 2008). The initial results are presented in a series of draft settlement summaries. The Council would welcome comments on the following documents: Draft Methodology Summary Report Summary of comments to Interim Report February 09
