Site Allocations and Development Management
Whilst the most important element of the LDF is the Core Strategy which deals with the overall pattern of development and major strategic sites, local authorities have the option of producing other documents in support of their Core Strategy.
In 2008, we published for consultation a 'site allocations' document which sought views on a number of potential development sites put forward by developers and landowners.
Two consultations were undertaken. The first consultation which took place in March 2008 sought views on almost 100 sites that had been put forward initially.
In response to that consultation a further 40 sites were put forward and these were subject to a second consultation held in July 2008.
Both consultation documents and the responses received can be viewed via the links below.
The current situation is that work on the site allocations DPD has been put on hold. The reasons for this are as follows:
Once the Localism Bill has been enacted and the National Planning Policy Framework brought into place, a decision will be taken by the Council whether and when to pursue the site allocations and development management document. By that stage further progress will also have been made with the Core Strategy and potentially local Neighbourhood Plans, which will also help to inform the decision.
